Serum-cholesterol, serum-triglyceride and ABO blood groups in a population of 50-year-old Danish men and women. Am J Epidemiol 95: 99-103, 1971.—During a prevalence study of 50-year-old Danish men and women, one of the aspects examined was the relationship between ABO blood groups and serum-cholesterol and serum-triglyceride levels. Significant relationships were found between high cholesterol and triglyceride levels and group A blood in men, whereas those with group B blood presented lower levels. Similar relationships were found in women, particularly in those who had passed menopause. Furthermore, the relationship between rhesus-group and cholesterol levels in women was found to be highly significant.
